Looking for a hobby......

I've been bored for ages.  Everyone around me has a hobby.  Honey goes to the gym,  Macy has netball, piano, kapa haka and other girlie stuff.  Other friends plays bowls, make digital artwork, run, ride horses and I......well, I watch TV!!!  So I decided it was time for me to find a hobby.  I didn't want to knit, crotchet or cross stitch - been there, done that, have needles, hooks, wool and stuff to show for it too.  I didn't want to join the gym - no surprises there.  I'm not really that into gardening so I crossed that off my mental check list.  My mum loves genealogy so I'll leave the family history to her.  I can't do magic tricks, twirl a baton or do taxidermy.  Finding a hobby is harder than you think!!!!  Then booyah!!!!  It came to me.  The sewing machine that Honey bought for me could have some potential.....I set it up on the table and well, what do you know??  I have a hobby!!!!

I've been super busy the last month or so sewing.  I never realized it could be so much fun.  And that is how Vintage Cush was born.  I'm sewing cushions!!!!  Out of vintage woollen blankets.  {that's the vintage part } You've already seen some of them on my previous posts but I've made a couple more since then and I'm making little iPad tote bags, too.  And have a few other little things up my sleeve!

I'm loving it.  I get to make things, think of new designs, choose colours, make patterns and then sew them.  The first few that I made are on the corner couch in our family room.  We all love how snuggly and homey they are.  And then....I just kept making them!!  My sister loves her D cushion, my Scottish friend loves her scotty dog, my brother loves his Lego man and Macy.....she loves her Russian Doll, One Direction {one for Katie Pie too} and her latest addition, the moustache.

My first cushions for our family room.
A scotty dog for Scottish Leah.
I made a Lego man for my big brother.
Drewe's second Vintage Cush.....anchors away!
Macy's Russian Doll cushion.
A moustache for a moustache obsessed Macy.
Part of my Lovebirds collection.  I love these birds.
Then I decided, if I could make cushions maybe I could make little bags to carry your iPad in.  So I did and I love them!  So I'll be making more of those too.

Lovebirds iPad tote.
Love this tartan.
Since I've been sewing so much, I figured I should buy an over locker!  And it arrived by courier today, yay.  It's not a top of the range one but it's a learner.  I've never really used one before so figured I'd be better to wreck a cheap than an expensive one.  And if I like it and I find it useful, I'll get a flash one!!!  {sorry Honey, get your wallet out, lol}

It has arrived!!!!!  My over locker :)
So exciting.....
Ain't she purdy??? {use a hill billy accent for  saying that}
But I will need a degree to learn how to use it.  Lol, but true.

So, now I officially have a hobby!!!  My dining table is covered in machines, blankets, felt, cotton, pins and I couldn't be happier.  I'm planning on having a little stall at the Christmas New Rags market and seeing if I can sell a few. {actually I just found out I can have a stall}  If not, guess what everyone is getting for Christmas presents???  Hahahaha.  I'll also have a few other things on sale at my stall but at the moment..they are a secret!!!  But I'll keep you posted as I go along.

Just enough time to squeeze in a........

Friday Fuzzy…..

Good on you Dr. Suess......he was totally right!  Finding a hobby and giving it a try has brought me real joy.  I'll stick at this one and I'm sure....I can still fit a little TV watching in there too.  After all, tonight the Bachelorette is on!!!  And I love that show :)

Happy weekend
